Guile Point leading Marks. Lindisfarne, UK

the obelisks on Guile Point that make up the leading marks into the harbour to the South of Lindisfarne (Holy Island). The seaward obelisk carries a light (Guile Point East Lighthouse) and is over 68 feet tall. I’ve seen the obelisks referred to as sinister, they certainly do loom somewhat forlornly I thought over the windswept coastline.

You can also see Bamburgh Castle on the horizon.

Lindisfarne Castle

An attempt to get a picture of Lindisfarne Castle and use a wall to frame the castle and obscure an ugly lamp post on the quay.

Power pole on E Lynn Street

Power Pole, E. Lynn Street by Gary Allman

I’m in the middle of a creative block, so I’m forcing myself to go out and just take pictures in the vain hope that ‘it’ whatever ‘it’ is returns. I’ve lost my eye and enthusiasm. The harsh winter light makes taking pictures tricky but interesting.

Royal Mail Sorting Office / Post Office, Slindon Street, Portsmouth

Royal Mail Sorting Office / Post Office, Slindon Street, Portsmouth UK

Not very subtle architecture… But I did love the way the sky was reflected in the windows and glass.

As this picture seems to get a lot of interest from people searching for information on the Slindon Street Sorting Office, the links below should take you to the official Royal Mail web sites.

Dark sea

Smoke, No Mirrors

One of the very first photographs I took when I bought my first digital camera. Fawley Oil Refinery, Southampton Water, Hampshire, UK.

I guess I should be thankful for this picture, if I hadn’t managed to take a decent picture early on, I might not have become enthralled with photography again.
