Sunflower Seeds at the Tate Modern – Ai Weiwei

Sunflower Seeds - Ai Weiwei by Gary Allman

A very small part of the original installation which covered the turbine hall floor of the Tate Modern gallery, London, UK and comprised some 100 million individually crafted porcelain sunflower seeds.

You can read more about the original piece here: Sunflower Seeds – Ai Weiwei.

Bass Pro Owl sculpture by Gary Allman

Every time I go to Bass Pro here in Springfield I spot new details. The store really is very well done.

Iron Rooster

Jim's Rooster by Gary Allman

Jim and Carol (Ginger’s parents) came down to Springfield so that I could photograph his latest welded sculpture. Not the best timing as my main camera is FUBAR at the moment. Fortunately my compact is a very nice camera too.

The Arch

The Arch, St Louis by Gary Allman
It really is an impressive structure, and I just can’t help myself taking pictures, it is constantly changing as the light varies and its sheer size is awesome.

Just to give some idea of scale. Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower would fit comfortably under the arch with over 70 feet to spare.

St Judes, Southsea

St Judes Southsea by Gary Allman

I find this modern sculpture rather menacing. There are two of them, one at either end of the shopping precinct.

The sculpture is meant to represent the breaking sea – and not a claw which is more how it appears to me.
