Dead tree, Bucksaw, Harry S Truman Lake, Missouri by Gary Allman

We took the Kayaks out on Harry S Truman lake today, but it was too windy to go far. We saw a flock, or whatever the collective noun is, of white pelicans. After being driven off the the lake by the wind I went on a walk around the closed off areas of the campsite, and ended up walking back along the lakeside where I saw this dead tree.

Early morning sunlight

Early Morning Sunlight by Gary Allman

We were sitting discussing our plans for the day when I looked up and saw the sunlight catch the leaves in the front yard. I leaped up, grabbed my camera and made a dash for the yard. I had a just couple of minutes before the sunlight moved on.

Beautiful decimation

Beautiful decimation by Gary Allman

We went for an evening walk in the park down on Scenic and noticed a couple of trees were looking odd. On getting closer we could see that all the leaves had been eaten away they were covered in Japanese Beetles. The beetles had eaten nearly all the leaves leaving just a skeleton outline behind.

Spring is sprung…

First signs of spring by Gary Allman

In an act of desperation to get our pictures for the day we dashed out into the back yard to grab some pictures before the sun went down. Ginger found some buds starting on the silver maple tree, which are quite alien looking.
